Gail’s Nightsongs in Spice

Another of my favorite patterns, this one was done for my Canadian friend. Again, I saw the yarn color and knew it would look great on her. This spicy orange just screamed out for a leaf pattern so Gail’s Nightsongs was my choice. I had knit this pattern before, so it was a piece of cake to crank out. I’m always amazed at how beautiful these shawls block up. When I bind them off the needles they always look like a lump of wool. (See photo below right.) It’s not until they are off the needles and blocked that they come alive.

The yarn is Knit Picks Shimmer hand-dyed yarn in Spice. This particular color reminded me of paprika. I’m so sad that they are no longer making this yarn as it was a favorite, and at a very reasonable price. It’s super-soft and has amazing drape. Luckily I found Moonlight Yarns where I can get a similar yarn but alas, not at the same price.
