Peacock Jaali shawl.
Stunning Lace-knit Shawl in Shades of Purple, Teal and Royal Blue.

I was so excited to start this project. The yarn I purchased from Moonlight Yarns was my first time using it and it was just so gorgeous I knew the shawl would turn out beautiful. The Jaali pattern, which means Garden Trellis, was my first time knitting both right and wrong side charts. Oh man, what a pain. I should have asked for help because it wasn’t until I had finished the shawl that I discovered that I’d knitted the whole wrong side rows backward. Frustrated, I decided I was going to block it and sell it anyway. To my surprise, it was still stunning even if I’d knitted it different than I should have. Instead of a stockinette style shawl, it had a garter stitch look which meant it could be worn with either side out. A plus!

I have since knitted this the correct way, and even though I like my first attempt at the pattern, doing the stitches this was was much more difficult than the normal way so this will be my one and only backwards Jaali shawl.
