Created from hand-dyed, ultra-soft Merino wool, this Estonian-lace Aeolian shawl is hand-knit in a stunning dark purple Merlot with hints of brown. Incredibly versatile; this shawl looks fantastic with a pair of jeans or an elegant dress. Time to pour yourself a drink of Aeolian warmth.
I used Knit Picks Shadow lace yarn in Vineyard Heather for this shawl. The pattern is Elizabeth Freeman’s Aeolian shawl, a big favorite of mine and my customers. This was the first lace pattern I ever knit and Elizabeth was really sweet about helping when I had some confusion with the instructions. (I wasn’t reading a symbol correctly.) Since then, I have knit this pattern with several different yarns and each time it amazes me at how they each have a different look.
I wouldn’t recommend this pattern if you don’t like knitting Nupp stitches. I didn’t find them too difficult, and luckily this pattern didn’t have too many.
Color: Dark Purple with hints of brown. This purple has more visible red than blue in color, but is definitely a purple, not a burgundy.*
Size: One size (S – XL). Measures 64″ wide by 30″ long.
100% Merino wool.
Hand wash – lay flat or dry clean.
