Pumpkin Spice scarf

Pumpkin Spice shawl
Pumpkin Spice shawl.

Visions of pumpkin pie come to mind when viewing this delicious lace-knit scarf. From pumpkin-y orange, to the spicy browns of cinnamon and nutmeg, to the creamy, warm yellow of a golden pie crust, this shawl is the perfect dessert for autumn’s chilly weather. Soft and cuddly cashmere and silk make this scarf irresistible. Guaranteed not to add a single pound!

This scarf is inspired by Sanne K.’s Percy shawl pattern. It ended up taking much more knitting time than it should have. According to the pattern, I had the yardage, but for some reason I ran out (even without making the nupps) before the last rows. I ended up frogging back and removing a repeat in the center pattern. Doing so gave me enough yarn to add more stitches to the edging for a better block, and I was able to make the nupps in the chevron. A much better look and I’m glad I went to the effort. I plan on altering the written pattern, so that I don’t have to remember what I did each time I remake this. Some yarns just don’t “block fiercely” as the pattern suggests.
