In the language of roses, a purple rose signifies “Love at First Sight” and that’s exactly what this enchanting, lace-knit, Cascade of Roses shawl encourages. The silky sheen of Blue-faced Leicester wool and silk yarn, combined with this gorgeous purple amethyst color, create a look that is stunning and sure to gain you compliments.
I’m in love with Aino Haikala’s “Language of Roses” pattern. It’s fairly easy to knit and I love how it turned out. There are a few small things I’d change when making it again, but it’s basically a well thought out pattern and easy to understand. The most difficult part was the blocking and I ended up doing it slightly different than the author because I liked how my way looked. This yarn is the second to the last purple shade from my BFL and silk, gradient Pirate shawl yarns, and is perfect for this pattern. The sheen from the silk and Blue-faced Leicester wool really makes it look elegant. I’m half-tempted to keep this one for myself.
