She sells sea shells by the sea shore. This shawl reminds me of the first time I saw the Mediterranean Sea. The striking blue-green color glistened in the afternoon sunlight as I drove along the Costa del Sol in Spain. To this day, I’m still in love with this color. When I saw this Deep Sea Tonal yarn at Black Sheep Dyeworks, I knew I had to buy it. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s gorgeous and the silk and fine-grade Merino wool make it just as wonderful to touch.
After seeing the yarn in person, I wanted a pattern that was wavy, to highlight the deep sea tones and Judy Marples East Gable Shawl was a perfect fit. It was a breeze to knit and the only thing different I did with it was to do a beaded picot cast-off. I think it finishes off the edging beautifully. I’ve decided to give this shawl as a birthday present to a lovely lady whom I know it will look stunning on. Happy Birthday Lynette!
