Created from hand-painted, merino wool and silk yarn, this Estonian-lace Sweet Peas Aeolian shawl is stunning in shades of purples and peacock blues. Incredibly versatile; this shawl pairs perfectly with a pair of jeans or a summer sundress. Wear it to block out the sun’s rays or for warmth on a cool summer night. The perfect addition to your summer wardrobe.
I love the colors of this shawl. They remind me of sweet peas growing by a garden fence. One of a number of Aeolian shawls I have knit, this one needed no modifications. The pattern is always an easy knit even though it looks so complicated. Elizabeth Freeman knows how to create a lace pattern. I love how it has various sections and not the repeat of all one pattern and how the edging lace always blocks out so perfectly. If you want a problem-free, lace knit shawl, this is the pattern to choose.
Fyberspates Gleem yarn is nice to work with. It feels a bit stiff from other wool/silk combos I’ve knit, but after a wash and blocking it’s soft as silk. Like most yarns, there’s a small amount of dye bleed in the wash, but nothing excessive. I’d recommend it to someone wanting a silk/merino blend at a good price.
