This Dragonfly Garden shawl casts an intricate spell with its a soft blend of cashmere, silk and Merino wool. Dark teal in color, its finely spun yarn, delicately knits a floral-patterned home for its flight-weary friend. Wear it as a scarf or shawl, this light and airy shawl is sure to be a wardrobe favorite.
I originally started this shawl out in the Komodo pattern, but soon discovered the yarn was too delicate to use a pattern that had a good portion of it made in the Stockinette stitch. Even with size 4 needles, it just didn’t have enough body to work for this pattern, so I ripped everything out and started new with the Echoflowers shawl pattern. I’d been wanting to do this pattern with a thinner yarn and this was the perfect solution. Love how it turned out. There’s finally enough space between the stitches to define them. I ended up doing a second row of the border chart of chevron Nupps. I think it balanced the Echoflower stitches better than just the one.
The yarn is from Germany and quite beautiful and soft. It’s ultra-fine and on the dark side, so definitely a day time project. More than a few times I had to backtrack and pick up a stitch that I’d lost. I’d not recommend it for a beginning knitter. Still, it’s so pretty that I couldn’t resist purchasing some to knit with.
