Shimmering beads light-up a sapphire sky in this striking Lightning Thief shawl. Hand-knit in a gorgeous Blue-faced Leicester and silk yarn, this shawl drapes delightfully across your shoulders, its intense sapphire blue color catching the eye of all who see it. A word of warning: you’ll steal the scene wherever you wear this stunning shawl.
Beads, beads and more beads. I don’t think I’ve ever knit a shawl with so many beads. And if all of the beads in this Lightning Thief shawl pattern weren’t enough, I decided to add more and do a beaded picot bind-off, instead of what the pattern called for. I love how it turned out. This shawl was moderately-easy to knit. I had to rip out a few rows here and there because of a missed yarn over or my not reading the pattern correctly. Not the pattern’s fault, I was just having blond moments. I also love the yarn. The deep sapphire color was difficult to knit at night, but I’d choose it all again because of it’s beauty. In fact, I’ve put in an order for more.
All in all, I’m glad to have this one behind me and a few shawls without beads coming up next in the queue.
