Witchy Woman shawl.

Woo hoo… Witchy Woman, she’s got the moon in her eye. This wickedly gorgeous Witchy Woman shawl begins with a deep, dark purple at the neckline and changes to a beautiful sky blue gradient. Finished-off with a touch of purple at the edging, this shawl is the perfect accessory for a spring or summer evening. It’s silk and cashmere yarn adds just the touch of warmth and elegance to your outfit.

Notes on the Project

I started out with Kristi Holaas’ Witchy Woman pattern and decided that I loved the three panel look, but had way too much of Violet Lynx’ Aurora yarn in Turquoise to Purple gradient to be able to use all of the color. That’s when I decided to add a band of a more structured pattern between the first and final chart.

The search through my knitting books and patterns was on, looking for something that would work for this additiona section. Finally I came up with pattern 7 in Hitomi Shida’s Treasury of Couture Knitting Pattern 250 – Craft Pattern Book. The stitch count worked out perfectly and the wavy pattern above and below it meant I didn’t have to do too much to transition in and out of the pattern.

The end result couldn’t have been more perfect. The color is exquisite, the yarn extremely decadent, and the pattern is just stunning. I just love how this one turned out.
