Fashioned after the Demi-god’s shield, this Perseus shawl is sure to come in handy this season when warding off the “Gorgons” of mortal life. Hand-knit in 100% Mulberry silk yarn, this shawl’s turquoise and chocolate banding of color, dazzle the eye with its sheen. So soft to touch, but well-known for its strength, this silk shawl will soon be your favorite. A gift from the Gods.
Comments on the project
This yarn is lovely to knit, even if ever-so slippery. I wanted a simple yet lacy pattern to highlight the two colors and the Perseus shawl pattern was a perfect fit. I love how the turquoise and brown color play off each other in the various banded sections of the pattern. This yarn is so soft that I had a tough time going back to knitting plain Merino. Everything else just seemed coarse by comparison and I know that’s not the case. The Perseus pattern is easy and well-suited for beginning lace knitters. This was actually the first time I had to use a life-line. Not because the pattern was difficult, but because the yarn was so slippery that even a single dropped stitch would ladder down 4-5 rows before I could catch it. I’d definitely not recommend 100% silk for a beginning lace knitter.
